The Crown looked to make it two straight wins over the Groove on Saturday afternoon but came up just short in an 80-75 defeat.

Much like Friday’s matchup, the two teams traded punches early, with the Crown holding a narrow 18-17 lead after the opening quarter. Charlotte carried that momentum into halftime with a 42-36 advantage after a tightly contested second quarter, before taking a slim 62-61 lead into the final frame. The game featured 21 lead changes, as neither side could create much separation, and despite leading for much of the afternoon, Charlotte was unable to hold off Greensboro down the stretch  to even the weekend series.

Deja Kelly paced the Crown with 18 points and three assists, while knocking down 9-of-10 free throw attempts.

The two teams will continue their five-game set in Greensboro Thursday, July 16th at noon as the Crown look to rebound and get back into the win column.
