The Crown brought women’s basketball back to the Queen City in front of a sold out Bojangles Coliseum Thursday night, but came up just short on the court in a 98-86 loss to Jacksonville.

Facing each other for the second time this week, the two sides were locked in a back-and-forth battle. The visitors rushed out to an early 14 point lead, only for the Crown to roar back and sit within two at halftime.

The tight contest continued until the fourth quarter, when a one-sided run by Jacksonville put the Waves in the driver’s seat down the final stretch.

Leading the Crown were Deja Kelly (17 points, five assists) and Reigan Richardson (17 points, 3 rebounds). Charlotte returns to Bojangles Coliseum on Monday for a Memorial Day matchup with Greensboro.
