The Crown survived a roller coaster of a final road game Friday night, holding on to take down the Steel 101-98 in overtime.

The visitors were firmly in control for the majority of the contest – holding an advantage on the scoreboard from the first bucket until the final minutes of the fourth quarter, where they led by 19 with under five to play. The Steel came roaring back late, though, pulling even for the first time with 30 seconds remaining and forcing the game to overtime.

The Crown shook out of their funk in the extra frame, though, and a dagger three from KK Deans proved to be the difference as Charlotte held on for the victory.

The league’s leading scorer Deja Kelly paced all Crown players with 20 points, while Deans and Reigan Richardson poured in 18 each and Schaquilla Nunn tacked on another double-double in the winning effort. The Crown have two regular season tilts left – Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., both at Bojangles Coliseum – before heading to Jacksonville for the UPSHOT League Championship.
