The Crown returned to the Queen City Saturday night but couldn’t right the ship, falling to the Savannah Steel 90-78.

After a tight start to the contest – the third between these two squads in the last three days – the Steel closed out the first quarter strong to build a six-point lead. That deficit ballooned in the second for Charlotte, and the home team headed into halftime trailing by 19.

Despite turning things around and outscoring their opponent by seven in the second half, the Crown couldn’t quite pull themselves out of that hole, and by the time the final buzzer sounded Charlotte found itself saddled with a fifth straight loss.

Leading the way on the scoresheet for the Crown were LeLe Grissett (16 points, 11 rebounds), Deja Kelly (13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists) and Michelle Onyiah (13 points, 8 rebounds). Charlotte is back in action Wednesday for a noon tip-off against the Jacksonville Waves.
