After splitting its first two contests against Jacksonville, the Crown is set to face a new opponent on Monday as it hosts the Greensboro Groove for a Memorial Day matchup.
Before the contest tips off, let’s take a look at three keys to tonight’s game.
GETTING BUCKETS
The season is only a week old at this point, but trends are starting to emerge. One of those is Charlotte’s lethal offense, which slots in at the top of the UPSHOT League rankings with 94.5 points per game. The Crown will look to keep that reign going as it faces a Groove squad that – after starting off the season with a pair of formidable offensive outputs – has fallen below 80 points in each of its last two contests and ranks last in the league offensively.
DEJA VU
In each of its first two games this season Deja Kelly has led the Crown in both points and minutes. The 24-year-old guard has established herself as one of the UPSHOT League’s premier offensive weapons, and her impact is spread across the scoresheet – Kelly also leads Charlotte in assists per game and ranks second in rebounds per game.
START ON TIME
A common theme across Charlotte’s first two games of the season is early deficits. In both contests against the Waves, the Crown trailed after both the first and second quarters. It was able to rally back in the first meeting thanks to a second-half surge, but couldn’t quite dig out of the hole in the rematch.
