The Crown is back on the road and headed to Savannah for back-to-back road tilts against the Steel. Before those games tip off, let’s take a look at some keys to the matchup.
LOCKDOWN
Through three games this season the Crown has allowed at least 95 points on two occasions and heads into this road trip with the highest points against per game in the UPSHOT League. The good news is that, despite the final result, Charlotte’s most recent outing was its most successful defensively – holding the Groove to 89 points and breaking the trend of surrendering a 30-point quarter in each of the first two contests.
The Crown now face three straight games against a 1-3 Savannah Steel squad that ranks third offensively in the league.
ON THE BOARDS
LeLe Grissett had a monster game against Greensboro on Monday, collecting an UPSHOT League-record 15 rebounds. That outburst puts her at the top of the league’s rebounds per game leaderboard with 10.3 – a shade above newcomer and fellow post presence Michelle Onyiah, who pulled down 10 rebounds in her Crown debut that night as well.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
After suffering two defeats on home court, the Crown is heading back on the road – where it has enjoyed success this season. The team’s lone victory thus far came in the opener, when they went into Jacksonville and took down the Waves with their most impressive showing to date – a 103-95 win powered by a 31-point double-double by Deja Kelly and 21 points from AD Durr.
